Your talk of Activity Analysis failed to mention another little time-wasting scheme that the bean counters have devised.

They take a random sample of the forms submitted by officers and send them back to the supervisors to check that they were actually doing what they said they were doing on the form.

But it isn’t a case of just ticking a box to confirm the entry. ANOTHER form has to be filled in – presumably after the conversation between the PC and Sergeant that goes something like

PS – Did you really spend seven hours in custody waiting for doctors, solicitors, appropriate adults, mental health professionals and a tape machine that actually records?

PC – Yes sarge, of course I did.

Glad to see you back.

As for reducing paperwork, I only ever see it increasing. Last nightshift, it took 4 hours of typing to catch up on totally uneccesary paperwork before I could get out of the nick to do some policing.

Absolutely crazy. Our bosses are as bad mind you for introducing new paperwork.

Until political influence is removed from our – Police Force, the NHS and our school systems and these mentioned stop being used as political pawns to win votes kayos and dishonesty will prevail. The Uk needs apolitical bodies to undertake the running of these services so their common aim that is – to service the paying public can be meet- until that day disarray will rule.
