Excessive force yes or no

I don’t think so, looks more like the officer was trying to give this guy a dead arm in order to get him to release his arm. Hardly a beating in my eyes.

I would agree with your view, when I heard about the story I was expecting to see an officer punching the guy to the face. The offender clearly did no want to go with the officers and the officer does indeed appear to be trying to deaden the guys arm in order to bring it around the back for cuffing. As usual, only a snippet of the footage shown, does not show the behaviour beforehand so trial by media again. Strikes me as similar ‘outcry’ to that girl that got punched behind the nightclub a while back, officer was perfectly justified then.

I heard somewhere that this guy had bitten one of the officers? I would say this was very reasonable if that was the case.

Usual story, or rather half a story, media jump up and down, staight away we are in the wrong, don’t see them making such a fuss when we get assaulted violently rather than what appears to be distraction blows!

    glad your back

  5. As you said, after getting bitten it seems more than reasonable.

To me it doesn’t look like a bloke who has lost it anyway – if he had truly lost it and gone for the suspect surely he would be punching the guy in the head or the face?

Refusal to get the cuffs on results in a dead arm – and the handcuffs placed on the suspect at last.

So when we meeting up for a beer…!?

Agree with ASNT. When my `red mist` came down as a proby, the first I knew was when i suddenly couldn’t move my arms – my colleagues had grabbed me. What a lesson.

Perhaps the officer punching would like to meet the victim out of uniform on his own and discuss it with him? Thought not
